About Mr Porteous
Mr Porteous is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with a specialist interest in glaucoma and cataract. He is currently the clinical lead for ophthalmology at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Porteous sees private patients as part of Kingston Private Health. He has previously held a locum consultant contract at the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, based at the Western Eye Hospital, London.
Mr Porteous undertook a fellowship in glaucoma at the Western Eye Hospital, London. He completed his ophthalmic specialty training in London, predominantly at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Western Eye Hospital.
Mr Porteous has a keen interest in all aspects of glaucoma management. He is experienced in glaucoma laser procedures including selective laser trabeculoplasty and YAG laser peripheral iridotomy. He is also experienced in both minimally invasive glaucoma surgery techniques such as iStent trabecular micro-bypass and more traditional filtration surgery including trabeculectomy and aqueous shunt surgery.
Mr Porteous is an experienced cataract surgeon and can undertake cataract surgery with premium toric intraocular lenses.
Mr Porteous has successfully published articles in a number of medical ophthalmic journals and has presented at a series of national and international meetings.
Mr Porteous has a keen interest in training and education, having undertaken an undergraduate teaching fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, completing a postgraduate certificate in medical education with Dundee University and previously holding a position on the Training the Trainers sub-committee at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
